The basic principle concerning games, including esports, is that they are permissible as long as they do not involve anything haram. This includes ensuring that participating in these games does not cause one to neglect obligatory duties or engage in forbidden activities such as uncovering the ‘awrah, engaging in foul speech, or causing harm to others. However, if playing these games and contests involves paying money that is taken by the winner, it is not permissible except in specific contests like archery, horse or camel races.
If esports do not involve any haram elements, they are considered halal.
