Yes, octopus is considered halal in Islamic dietary laws. In general, seafood is permissible in Islam, and octopus falls into this category. The correct view is that if it only lives in the sea, it is permissible to eat it based on the general meaning of the verse: “Lawful to you is the pursuit of water-game and its use for food” (Quran 5:96).
