No, betting is not halal. In Islam, it is not permissible to offer payment or prizes for sports betting, whether that is offered by one of the competitors or by some other party. Betting on outcomes or expectations, even if not for money, falls under the category of speculating about the unseen, which is impermissible. Engaging in programming or software development related to betting is also not allowed .
Competitions such as archery, camel races, and horse races are permissible, as stated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “There should be no prizes for competitions except in archery, camel races, or horse races.” However, betting on which competitor or horse will win is considered gambling, which is haraam .
